Temecula Valley: Rebranding Southern California’s Wine Country
Temecula Valley is known as “Southern California’s Wine Country” but as a relatively young wine region there have been some misperceptions and brand confusion. With those challenges, there was a strategic opportunity to reposition the Temecula Valley Wine Growers Association brand as a relaxed and innovative wine region that focused on creating quality wines.
The climate, specifically the sunshine, is a unique point of difference that sets Temecula Valley apart from other California wine regions. In fact, the name Temecula comes from the Luiseño Indian word “Temecunga.” The Spanish interpreted and spelled the word as “Temecula” which translated to mean “where the sun breaks through the mist.”

Intentional Color
The choice of colors for the Temecula Wines logo and brand identity was another opportunity to tell the story around the diverse wine varietals grown in the region. Each color was intentionally chosen to represent a key element of Temecula Wines while also translating into the feeling of the landscape and breathtaking sunsets.
